Therapy: with Juan

… where the simple, but sometimes rare, experience of being attentively listened to can have meaningful and transformative effects.

Hello, I am Juan and welcome to my website.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with a private practice in London (NW2/NW6) and online (zoom).

You might be visiting this page because you are interested in therapy for yourself or someone you care for. By scrolling down, you can read more about therapy, my approach and experience, as well as my fees.

If you would like to explore the possibility of sessions with me (in one or two initial sessions), you are welcome to make use of my contact details below.

Is therapy for me?

You might be looking for individual therapy for yourself or someone you care for. You might be new to therapy with no prior experience. Or, you may have done sessions in the past and wish to reengage. You might be a student undertaking therapy training and require a BACP/UKCP registered therapist. Whoever you are and whatever your motivations, therapy might be helpful for you.

Individual Therapy

Therapy is a weekly day and time dedicated to you. You may have specific issues to focus on. Or, you might want to explore yourself in a wider sense. Therapy is a private, uninterrupted and confidential space, where you can begin to express yourself and reflect. Therapy has been described as “the talking cure,” which suggests that through therapeutic dialogue life enhancing change can occur.

Will I be welcome?

You will be made welcome as you are. This includes your individual gender, sexuality, relationship diversity, race, ethnicity, cultural heritage, social class, religion, spirituality, physical or mental health diagnosis and any disability. You will be welcomed with dignity, respect and non-judgement. In whatever mood or situation you experience yourself, you are welcome.

“Words are like pillows: if put correctly they ease pain.”

About

I completed a Diploma in Counselling and an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy, at Re-vision: Centre for Integrative Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy (from a soulful perspective). Resultantly, I am a registered member of the BACP and UKCP and adhere to their Ethical Frameworks and professional standards. I have worked in organisations including state and private schools, ELOP, Re-vision’s Low Cost Counselling Service, Bridge: A Future in Focus and Child in Time. Additionally, I am tutor on Re-vision’s Stage One Counselling Diploma.

Approach

My integrative counselling and psychotherapy training was informed by a variety of approaches and particularly informed by Psychodynamic, Jungian and Transpersonal Psychology. The soulful perspective, of my original training, held an openness to creativity (as approaches to healing), including: art, poetry, literature and movement. My individual approach is warm, open-minded and thoughtful. I take a sensitive and aware approach to difference, diversity and equality. I will take an honest, considerate and professional approach towards you.

Experience

I have experience working with a range of issues, including: identity issues related to gender, sexuality, race, class or (mixed) heritage; struggles with patterns of experience related to diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, bipolar, OCD, etc; ancestral, inter-generational and complex trauma; difficulty with mood states such as depression, anxiety, stress, anger, obsession, panic, fear and etc; burnout, breakdown and bleakness – related to loss of direction, purpose and/or meaning; addiction, compulsion and isolation; spiritual or religious crisis.
